Here we show how we can create nested Grids (or nested matrices), i.e. how we can link / unlink an existing grid below the current grid we are in. This is helpful if we want to drill down and get a more granular view on an issue. This action can be done by any user who has edit rights to the Grid and to the Element below which we want to link a Grid.
1. In Scientrix we can link existing Grids below any element of our current Grid.
To do this we first have to go to the parent Grid. In this case we click on Demo-Grid-1 in the left menu.
2. Let's assume we want to link Demo-Grid-2 below Element 1.
To do that, we hover over Element 1 and click on the 3-dot action icon.
3. In the drop-down menu we select "Link Grid"
4. In the pop-up modal we start typing the grid name and then click on it when it appears.
5. Then we click "Save"
6. We can now see a small "Grid" icon appearing in Element 1. This indicates that Element 1 has a SUB-GRID linked to it. Then we click on the "Grid-icon".
7. We are now taken to the Sub-Grid which is Demo-Grid-2.
So how do we navigate upwards again?
We have two possibilities:
We can either click on a Grid in the left menu or,
We can click on the upside-down tree icon to see the parent Grids
Let's do that.
8. In the modal we can see the current Grid. Then let's click on the "+" sign to expand the tree
9. Then we can see the parent Grid of the current Grid.
So we click on the Parent Grid (Demo-Grid-1)
10. The system takes us back to Demo-Grid-1 which is the parent Grid for Demo-Grid-2.
If we want to UNLINK a subordinate (child) Grid we again click on the 3-dot action item.
11. In the drop-down menu we select "Unlink Grid"
12. And now we can see that the Grid-icon is removed from Element 1. The Sub-Grid (Demo-Grid-2) still exists but is no longer linked to Element 1.
