Add a new metric and complete the information in the pop up. In the metric definition select ‘Automatic Status’. Here you will see five colour lines with four spaces to add values. For the cost example, we can distinguish 2 cases:
a. Either metric values are absolute figures for example overheads in USD, fuel consumption in litres, etc.
➔ then we typically select ‘Percentage Difference’ as the basis for RAG
status calculation.
b. Or metric values are percentage figures for instance absenteeism in percentage, cost in percentage of revenue, etc.
➔ then we typically select ‘Absolute Difference’ as the basis for RAG status calculation.
When adding the thresholds, please remember thresholds must only be numbers and decimal points. No commas, no spaces and no percentage signs In the case of cost it is desirable that the actual value is lower than the target value - set the High Thresholds (HighRed and HighAmber) very tightly.
If the year-to-date actual is more than 0.01% above the year-to-date target the RAG status immediately goes to amber. And if the year-to-date actual is more than 5% above the year-to-date target then the RAG status moves to red. The LowAmber and the LowRed thresholds can be left open.
